The winner is instead decided by percent and stock amount. If a game goes to sudden death, the result of the in game sudden death will not determine the match results. This includes playing in other events at the same time, if it delays the playing of a set by a significant amount, at the sole discretion of the tournament staff. Making a game or set unplayable or delaying a set is strictly banned and may result in disqualification. If a non legal stage is chosen, both players may be subject to disqualification. Players may choose to go to any LEGAL stage at any point during the set. Stage clause (also known as DSR) is in effect during stage selection, which states that the winner of the previous game may not choose to go to the same stage consecutively.
Banned stages do not persist throughout the entire set. Players will then ban stages from the list of starter stages (see 2.2) given through a P1-P2-P2-P1 format for the first game and after each subsequent match, the winner will ban two stages from the combined list of starter and counterpick stages. Players will select their characters via smash.gg’s built-in functions, therein performing a double blind character pick. Following rules do not change between the two set lengths. Every set will be performed in a best of three format, with Top 8 all being played in a best of five format.
